The Indonesian Government is actively seeking international partners for consultation and assistance as it builds its own capabilities, especially in the higher education sector.
The government scholarship agency Lembaga Pengelolaan Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) allocates over 2,000 postgraduate scholarships every year with priority areas of engineering, science, agriculture, law, economics, finance, and health and medical. ENZ will engage with the relevant Indonesian Government departments to raise the profile of New Zealand universities for these scholarships.
Opportunities exist for New Zealand education delivery in Indonesia, as well as for cooperation and partnerships with Indonesian universities for joint and twinning programmes and for collaboration on research.
Institutes of Technology and Polytechnic (ITPs)
Indonesia has a need to increase the quantity and quality of skilled workers. There are growing opportunities for ITPs to partner with their Indonesian counterparts and industries as Indonesia seeks to better match its skills output with its skill demands.
Opportunities exist for collaboration and research cooperation in the areas of agriculture and food science, geothermal energy/earth science, disaster and risk management and planning.
The Indonesian Government is also looking to increase their capability in early childhood education and teacher/lecturer training and development.
