ENZ was invited to be a Strategic Partner by QS at the QS India Summit 2024 held from 9-10 February in Mahabalipuram. ENZ Director of Engagement East Asia and India, Jugnu Roy (second from right) represented ENZ as a panellist at the ‘Beyond borders: The evolution of international universities in India’ session 

All eight New Zealand universities participated in the summit, with University of Auckland and University of Canterbury sponsoring the sessions over the two days.

ENZ Market Manager Senior Market Manager Bruna Natale recently welcomed Prime Minister’s Scholarship awardees from Te Piruru Papakainga Marae at the New Zealand Consulate Office in São Paulo.  

The awardees spoke about their first week in Brazil/São Paulo city and their visit to the Museum of Indigenous Cultures. The group will meet with indigenous communities at the coast of São Paulo State and end their journey in Rio de Janeiro city. 

Final photo symposium

January saw the inaugural NZELTO Asia Symposium delivered in Bangkok by our partners, Kāpuhipuhi Wellington Uni-Professional. This was the final stage for government officials from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and Mongolia who had started their experience with a three-month English language training programme in Aotearoa New Zealand last year, delivered by the English Language Institute of Victoria University of Wellington. 

The Symposium saw the officials present their workplace projects to each other on the themes of good governance or strengthening resilience, hear from expert speakers and panellists from the Asia Foundation, Institute of Security and Chulalongkorn University, the Asian Development Bank and the private sector, as well as network with each other and representatives of the New Zealand Posts in Bangkok and Timor-Leste.

Bizventure morning tea 16 FEb

North Asia CAPE and Young Enterprise organised a BizVenture Japan study tour to Tokyo from 12-17 February.  

ENZ’s Japan team hosted a briefing session for New Zealand students at the New Zealand Embassy in Tokyo on 16th February. The briefing session was joined by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise colleagues to provide the students with detailed presentations about the New Zealand and Japan relationship, New Zealand businesses in Japan, and the New Zealand and Japan indigenous relationship.

Air NZ

Team Thailand met with General Sales Agent of Air New Zealand, Kanchana J, to get an update on market trends for Thais taking flights to New Zealand. 

Kanchana updated that seats are fully booked until July and the number of Thai passengers for leisure travelling to New Zealand has been increasing.

New Zealand Alumni Day 407 resize

In late January, ENZ Market Manager Naluri Bella, Director Asia Ben Burrowes, and all eight New Zealand universities joined forces to organise a series of promotional activities in Surabaya and Jakarta, Indonesia. The collaboration between ENZ and the universities aimed to strengthen ties with Indonesian education agencies, school counsellors, and alumni, fostering future partnerships and enhancing the visibility of New Zealand as a preferred destination for international education. 

Following the university events, on 27 January, ENZ co-hosted a New Zealand Alumni Day with New Zealand Inc agencies. The New Zealand - Indonesia Alumni Association was launched during the event.
