Ngā Karahipi a te Pirīmia mō Āhia me Amerika ki te Tonga

We are pleased to advise that the Prime Minister's Scholarships for Asia and Latin America are restarting with a scholarship round for group programmes. Applications were open from 21 March - 16 May 2022.

Successful groups will be announced in the coming months, with groups expected to commence their programmes overseas from late 2022 onwards.

This round, the first since the suspension of the scholarships due to COVID-19, is for group programmes only. Universities, wānanga, institutes of technology and polytechnics, private training establishments, iwi and other educational organisations were able to apply for a programme on behalf of a group of people.

About the Scholarships

The Prime Minister’s Scholarships for Asia (PMSA) and Latin America (PMSLA) are funded by the New Zealand Government and administered by Education New Zealand Manapou ki te Ao (ENZ).

Since 2013, the Scholarships have enabled more than 2,400 New Zealanders to broaden their horizons through life-changing learning experiences in Asia and Latin America.

The scholarships are flexible, and offer funding to support short or long term programmes including study abroad / exchange, internships, postgraduate study, and language programmes.

Information for individuals

Individual scholarships remain suspended for now, but we are hoping to re-open applications within the next 12 months (as of May 2022). This page will be kept up to date as details are announced.

There is also the opportunity to be involved in a group programme from the scholarship round we ran from March - May 2022. Check back here in the coming months to see which group programmes have been awarded, and how to get involved.
